Registered Behavior Tech
Hours: Routinely works Monday through Friday 8/9:00 am to 2/3:00 pm; hours vary based upon the needs of the participants and services.
Job Summary:
The Behavior Technician plays a crucial role in providing clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to our clients with exceptional needs. The Behavior Technician will collect progress data, implement behavior support strategies, and assist the Program Director as requested. Specialized behavioral training will be provided within 90 days of being hired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Focus on changing behavior by identifying and measuring the behavior in real-life and in supported environments.
-Monitor progress in reaching behavioral objectives identified in the behavior plan.
-Implement learning programs (communication, self-help, and daily skills) and positive measures to expand opportunities and enhance the client’s quality of life.
-Collect data on all behaviors targeted and discuss with the supervisor weekly to analyze the information gathered and participate in initial and ongoing training.
-Document each service activity on a session note immediately after each session.
-Properly report all critical incidents and safety concerns regarding persons receiving services.
-Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established organizational procedures.
-Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients.
-Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise.
-Effectively utilize company software programs as directed.
-Promote positive public relations, facilitate interagency collaboration, and advocate for the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive services.
-Accept all other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
1. Experience working with children and adolescents in a classroom or 1:1 setting; and/or experience working with adults with developmental disabilities; and/or experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis is desired.
2. Required: High School Diploma
3. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) coursework within 90 days of being hired
4. Preferred: Coursework in Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing
Services, or a related field.
Knowledge/Skills:
-Strong and timely communication skills to work with a diverse team.
-Respond quickly to crises and able to handle aggressive/self-injurious behaviors of clients.
-Reliable attendance record; follow procedures for rescheduling or calling off.
-Basic computer skills and be able to use all required software.
-Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies or when a supervisor is not onsite.
-Work productively to develop relationships with individuals and their families.
-Proven creative abilities, and strong organizational and time management skills.
-Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance and record keeping.
Additional Requirements:
1. Successful Completion of 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician coursework.
2. Successful completion of database check, fingerprinting, BCI/FBI background checks, and drug screening.
3. Satisfactory professional reference checks.
4. Completion of CPR/First Aid/AED training.
5. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that will enable the employee to be insured, if applicable.
6. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and quickly respond to children or aggressive behavior.
